6D37 Rylstone - Hunslet 04-12-2023

6D37 1220 Rylstone - Hunslet passed Cononley at 1645 running 192 late led by a ROG Class 37. Does anyone have the details on what led to this fairly astonishing working.

A GBRF Class 66 was coupled inside - presumably failed or at least not fully operational.

I understand there was a freight train failure at Appleby earlier as well, two freight train failures in a day between Skipton and Carlisle seems like very bad luck.

Putting my pedant cap on, Rylstone technically isn't between Skipton and Carlisle, it's on the former Grassington branch from Skipton running in a completely different direction.

True, but based on real-time trains it made to Skipton on time, then got delayed.

66 760 failed after running round at Skipton - power cutting-out continually at more than 5 mph. 37 601 had brought a 3 car 331 over from Allerton via Carnforth and was due to take a 4 car back again....but was unable to provide a 110v power supply from the appropriate end. Therefore the return working to Allerton was cancelled and 37 601 was sent back to Derby for repairs....dragging 66 760 and its train as far as Kirkstall Up Loop, arriving +349, where 66 764 took over after a further delay.

Thanks for the detail, very helpful. I wonder if the 66 was able to help the 37 get the train moving. Wish I'd been at Skipton to see (hear) it leaving.
