67s Dragging East Coast at Weekends?

Hi,

somebody mentioned to me on a railtour yesterday that 67s are booked to haul Leeds services forward from Doncaster at weekends. 67004, 16, and 27 have been used.

As there are a few winners there, I'm quite tempted to travel over and do them. My question is, how long are these booked to go on for? Also, with it been a bank holiday next weekend are they booked then?

Looks like the 67s are being attached/ detached at Retford (9 minutes there) and are then routed via Doncaster, hambleton south jn, hambleton west jn, Micklefield to Leeds and then Wakefield Westgate.

Also XC trains have been routed via Barnsley, Wakefield Kirkgate and methley jn between Sheffield and Leeds today.

The one just gone, next weekend and then the 2 Sundays after this according to East Coast timetables.

Thats right except those 3 trains I mentioned which have the normal stopping pattern (Leeds-Wakefield Westgate-Doncaster, going via Featherstone, Knottingley, Askern between Wakefield & Doncaster) plus the Harrogate which always goes via Hambleton on saturdays anyway.

WYPTE Day Rover is the cheapest way to do this. £5.30 for the day (trains only), or £6.20 including buses. No time restrictions at weekends If u r flying into LBA, you can use it on the bus to/from there, or if you are training in Trans-Pennine you only need to book to Huddersfield before the Rover validity starts (technically Marsden, but TPE doesn't stop there). Buy at staffed stations, main bus stations, or any Post Office in West Yorkshire.

The only downside, and its a minor one, your only restricted to doing the Leeds-Wakefield-Leeds bit of the drags. Apart from that, at £5.30 for train only, they are excellent value & I get one fairly oftern on my days off.

Although given that the route's going to be Leeds > Normanton > Kirkgate > Westgate > Outwood > Leeds this is both more miles and more interesting than usual.

I've been getting them for years. When I was a teenager and lived in York you could buy them there and get a return to Micklefield. This got you a great day out that always had to feature a run past Healey Mills TMD. Trying to write numbers down while riding in a speeding 141 was not easy, I can tell you! Also compulsory was a trip on the 16:03 Leeds > Carlisle in the days of 2 trains a day on this route. A good bet for a class 40 this train had the advantage of stopping at all stations to Keighley for maximum EE thrash!
