67023 and 67027 Thunderbird ECML Duties

1A19 had difficulty at Copley Hill, 91110.

Eventually back to Leeds under own power.

I can't remember exactly which day it was but I remember seeing that the Thunderbird had been readied/mobilised up that way but was then stood down as the train resolved its issue. I think it was an Azuma, not a 91.

Edit: Although it appears I was wrong based on what 43094 has just said. I'll go back to sleep...

I’ve heard these Colas locos are for class 91 set rescues only as they can’t couple to an Azuma, is this correct?

No that's not correct. The Thunderbirds are there to respond to all incidents and rescues. Adapter couplings are available either from the Thunderbird itself or by the relevant TOC/FOC as required.

80X carry an onboard adapter coupling too, meaning in theory any loco can rescue them. They also have the relevant onboard systems for the difference in braking systems.

They didn’t collect the 91 just the coaching set that the 91 was on when it failed. NL26 and 82223 with one 67 on each end
