66718 isn't much better - largely black (with blue roof!) and lots of people walking all over it...

I don't mind the livery but I don't think it looks quite right on the side of a 66. The crinkly/corrugated/etc. panels aren't an ideal backdrop for something of that detail, in my opinion.

I hope it doesn't move too fast, as I don't fancy running along the side of it to work out where I need to change to get on the Central line...

Livery isn't too bad IMHO... the thing that ruins it in my mind (apart from being mostly white at a very dirty time of year) is the cab front being white with just the yellow warning panel... would probably have looked better if the cab front/s had been the usual yellow warning panel with the orange over the rest....

66718 doesn't look as bad with it being mostly black... but I would still stick to my point about the cab end treatment.

721's roof should have been GBRf blue in my opinion...unless the red has some other meaning?

Whats the livery of 718 as I don't think I have seen that yet?

Just a thought

Would it not be an idea to start a thread just for images of unusual (non Standard) liveries

Feel free to shoot me down :D

Cheers

Are these a couple of the five locos that were previously in the (now redundant) 'Metronet - renewing the tube' livery?

Are they going to do all five then?

I agree, perhaps a sticky in the traction forum for new / non - standard liveries.

Keep em all in one place rather then starting a new thread for every one.

Agreed.

Is the red roof due to the LU roundel being wholly red? Even if so, that roof doesn't really complement it; it looks unfinished!

Oh and paint one in BR Blue with the arrows of indecision, just to give the purists a reason to be annoyed. <D

Quite like 721 although im not too sure about 718, still I suppose adds variety to a otherwise virtually identical class

721 would look great after working a RHTT train :D

Interesting, not a great theme lol, but this example demonstrates that everything is possible and someone who has a flair for art, could put some great artwork /pictures on locos, trains etc.

I think that looks superb! What's the nameplate on the side?

I'll have to track it down for a pic.

I think they both look like great liveries. I've seen some other shots of the white one and it actually suits it really well. The black tends to look worse in my view.

Surprised no-one has suggested Load Haul yet.

Could go for a complete set of BR "heritage" liveries. How much upset would "Intercity" cause?

66721 = Harry Beck, the designer of the tube map as we know it today.

For the benefit of the photographers out there, each side of 66721 is different - one side is today's tube map while the other seems to be a retro 1930s version.

66718 has new name - Sir Peter Hendy CBE

721 does not look great in that livery when it is on Crossrail duties and covered in grime, as it has most of the last two weeks!
