66425/47790 on the floodex

I've finally got round to doing the Cumbrian floodex, after a late change of plan last night. Mumrar may wish to look away now Again, the weather forecasters got it wrong, claiming it would be cloudy in Cumbria. Umm, there was hardly a cloud in the sky until lunchtime. The skies were gorgeously blue, giving me chance to take advantage of the lovely light you get at this time of year when the sun actually shines!!!!!

66425 was on the north end of the stock, and after bailing off my 156 at Flimby and walking south, I grabed an ever so slightly backlit shot. I reckon if you could get there for about 08:00, this would be on for a properly lit shot:

I then headed back towards the station, choosing a spot near to a pair of donkeys (aww!) in their pen, and it wasn't long before the train returned - seems to be a pretty QTR at Maryport. Here, 47790 is seen clagging away on departure from Flimby - http://www.ferret.fotopic.net/p63530779.html

I then decided to walk southwards to Siddick - it's further than I thought!!!! And it doesn't help when you walk past the location and have to retrace your steps. First, a 156 went north - http://www.ferret.fotopic.net/p63530292.html

So, that was the two shots I was after done and dusted - I yomped to the shack that was constructed at Workington North (much closer to Siddick than Flimby station is for future reference!) and had a bash on the 66 back to Maryport, and then the 47 down to Workington. Last but not least, after some beer in Workington, and another ride on the 66 to Maryport, I took one off the road bridge of the 47 departing. Sun has gone a bit too far round by 15:10 for this shot really with it only just touching the side of the train - http://www.ferret.fotopic.net/p63530296.html

And there ended an enjoyable day of photography and ale! Ta to 56102 and 43004 for a wonderful day out!

Blimey mate, 4 different 37's have worked it including Mr B's last /6 and you have not bothered doing it then the first time a shed is on it's RA Maryport, quite worrying that!! I assume Mr B only went for the 47, surely he did not go all the way there for the 66 when he once flagged one at Liverpool St dragging a Anglian set that just dropped in front of him??

Hi Dai, the 66 shot and the 47 departing Flimby were both taken from the verge at the roadside! And I was well annoyed about having to retrace my steps - I went a long way past where I actually needed to go!

Blimey mate, 4 different 37's have worked it including Mr B's last /6 and you have not bothered doing it then the first time a shed is on it's RA Maryport, quite worrying that!! The first we knew about it being a 66 was when we were half way up the WCML. 43004 was particularly unimpressed cos it was dud having worked at Barrow Hill apparently I was just up there for the photos anyway - it needed to be done!

I didn't have him down as doing 47s..... (or 66s, or even 57s!)

wasnt that long ago that spitfire sent a pair of 37s round there...line in book, but stac would have liked the shed lol
