Who knows ..... but the internet has plenty of stories. They include rebuilding and re-equipping 66048 as a concept project or that the frame is required for the repair of 66745 which had a bump at Whitemoor several weeks ago.
The bogies have gone back to DBC so there isn't much left of 66048.

What's DBC?
DB Cargo - new name for what was DB Schenker.
Shunting incident, apparently ..... must have been quite a shunt for it need such repairs ....
