Got a shock to see 66036 in Hendaye on the France/Spain border.
What's the story with that?
Indeed. Not yet deemed surplus and hasn’t made it back across the channel to join up with its repatriated brothers over here yet.Exported to Euro Cargo Rail - now DB Cargo France.
For the Class 66s I think you can tell from the Pool codes: WGEA are in France and WGEP are in Poland - they are confind to those countries to which they are allocated due to signalling a safety fitments. All the Freightliner ones are in Poland but I think these can work into Germany - perhaps their systems are compatible. You are not going to see them in Holland, but they do turn up at border locations with Belgium and Switzerland for instance. The story with the Class 92s is much more complicated and these are basically in former Eastern European countries. Is there any way of telling where the exported locos are in France/Poland, or would that need someone to have access to the French/Polish TOPS equivalent?
