Hi guys,

Over the past month I'd say, I've noticed 66027 and 66126 on a duty and they're both stinking dirty and are parked up near Dr Days Junction outside Bristol Temple Meads station. 66126 has randomly left the convoy and 66168 has replaced it. Apparently its an RHTT movement. What does this stand for and what does it do? I presume it's track maintenance or something. You can barely see the side numbers of 66027 it's that bogging!! In the middle is five or six blue tanks?!

If anyone can shed some light on the situation, that'd be good!

Thanks!

Basically... sprays sandite or similar substances on the track to improve adhesion during the leaf fall season. this is a very messy process and the locomotives very quickly end up looking like they have done mud wrestling, which in a way they really have been doing!

It is mainly a water cannon these days - there is no point cleaning them until the end of the season as they will just get covered in muck again. Just clean off windows and the safety critical decals and get on with it

Examples include those two DBS 66s and these two GB ones. Have to admit that i like the fact it's the Crossrail named one, now covered in non crossrail muck.

This was 66027 at Temple Meads last Tuesday, covered with dirt but with the number and EWS wording made visible!
