LNER A4 60009 Union of South Africa was at the helm of the Railway touring companies railtour The Cumbrian Mountain Express on the 23rd of August 2014. The A4 was due to come onto the train at Newcastle but due to the amber steam fire alert still in place the steam would only be allowed to do the steam leg from Carlisle to Blackburn over the Settle and Carlisle line . The A4 is first seen south of Oxenholme at Sedgwick in the early morning sunshine . The return leg sees 09 approaching Aisgill summit just as the sun went in and promptly came out after 09 had passed me .
