All new components internally, overhauled and refurbished. It's reported as being the first of the "Super Sixty" overhauls.Has this 60 had any mechanical work done? Overhaul??

That's just what I was thinking, sounds like there should be a ghost story there. Did the refurb include the installation of the ghost of the unfortunate DB employee the loco is named after (No disrespect meant)?"The Spirit of Tom Kendell", apparently. Sounds like a ghost.
That one would take a lot of time, money and effort to get back up and running again, and even if they were to theoretically (It's not at all cost-effetive to do so), as part of the Super Sixty programme it would no doubt be painted in DB Schenker red. I suspect that 081 only has a future as a source of spare parts ahead of it.DB should get 081 up n running in Bruswick Green![]()
You only have to ecpect teething problems with something that's been out of service for that long and had that much work done to it. That's the whole point of running in, isn't it.
