60+ Oyster Boundary Question - Shenfield

Quick question -

If travelling beyond Shenfield from London, does the train have to stop at Shenfield if I am to use my 60+ Oyster from London to Shenfield and buy a ticket from Shenfield to my destination (which tomorrow is Manningtree), or can I do this on any training passing through but not necessarily stopping at the boundary station?

The validity on Greater Anglia services ends at Harold Wood, so a ticket is needed from the Boundary of Zone 6 if you are using Greater Anglia, or to switch between the Elizabeth Line and Greater Anglia at Shenfield

Like most concessionary passes, a 60+ Freedom Pass is considered equivalent to a season or zonal ticket for splitting purposes under the NRCoT. That's to say, you don't need to stop at the station where you change tickets - you just need to pass through there.

However it's important to note that the 60+ pass is only valid to Shenfield if you actually use take the Elizabeth line. Otherwise it's only valid as far as the last station in Zone 6, i.e. Harold Wood. The same goes for most other routes where the 60+ pass is valid beyond Zone 6.

So you can split at Harold Wood without needing to stop there, but if you want to split at Shenfield you'll have to take the Elizabeth line there.

I suggest having a look at this map (also attached), which sets out which operators the 60+ Pass is valid on, and when it becomes valid.
