5C00 what's it for.

I've discovered this path in the latest WTT.

It's shown as:

Headcode 5C00
Runs : SX-Q
Origin: St Philips Mrsh H S T D
Destination : Exeter St Davids

Now it seems to terminate in platform 4, but I can't from there work out what it forms? Any ideas anyone?

If it is a Q path then it runs as required, without checking the graph and association then it is difficult (unless a 1C00 or 2C00 starts from it)

Q indicates that the path is 'as required' so maybe it is a path to get a replacement set to Exeter for times when one in traffic gets a bit poorly? I can't find a 1C00 or 2C00.

I did wonder if it was to do a "set swap" there doesn't seem to be anything specifically for a HST that would normally start from Exeter around that time.

That's caught my interest, will see if I can find anything.

I did wonder if it was to do a "set swap" there doesn't seem to be anything specifically for a HST that would normally start from Exeter around that time.

Maybe one coming from further afield would stop at Exeter and passengers/crew transferred onto the fresh HST.

If its a Q path, I doubt its booked for anything on a permanent basis and is just formed of a spare man and whatever unit they need to move if it ever actually runs.

I could be wrong but the path may require a timing load to be included in the WTT and TRUST. We have Q paths that show as a Sprinter but can be worked by anything when and if they run.

It's a path used to transfer units between Exeter and St.Phillips Marsh, there's a return path as well. Used to be used mainly by 142s going for tyre turning at Phillips Marsh I believe.

It's one of the 'Ghost Train' moves, one sighting reported is 143618 and another time 150232. Don't know what it does after, but maybe an un-timed shunt to the depot?

Indeed, most likely to be a 143 now since their diagrams don't take them to St.Phillips Marsh normally now.

That would be the one. 1011 from Exeter St Davids, into St.Phillips Marsh at 1155.

No timetables in to Exeter depot appear in the WTT, so 5M00 and 5C00 both run to/from Exeter DMU Depot, it's just shown as St Davids. Same happens with all the ECS moves off the depot in the morning.

Believe it or not, there is a rule where you do not have to put shunt or short ecs moves of under 2 miles into the WTT.

Yes I noticed there is no ECS moves for Exeter TMD at all, or for Sheffield or Eastcroft (I don't think?) but St Philips Marsh and Barton Hill do have times.
