Porbably because Foster Yeoman is now owned by Aggregate Industries. You can see the AI logo a bit clearer in this shot.

Im sure it still stands, the fronts had to be 50% yellow to provide the warning panel, unless this is just for publicity photos and will be extended up before entering traffic

The yellow on the front is the same size as what it was when it carried the later Foster Yeoman livery. See here.

Just looks like they've got a FTPE-esque vinyl on the lower half of the body and covered up the Y logo, I know they haven't, it just looks like it. Bit disappointing really.

Btw, going slightly off subject, anyone interested in these machines, the next issue of 'Modern Locomotives Illustrated No. 173' is on the 59s. The current one is on the 86s.

Agree, the colours just clash horribly. The low yellow panel also makes it look a bit, well, foreign! Compare that to the smart and striking GBRf livery on the Cl66, different class! (literally! )

If the yellow was extended all the way to the top of the front, maybe even to the windows on the side (a la BR) then it would look much better, but it's not bad.

That's an interesting point.
I see Class 59's quite alot as they are favourites to work the Fareham and Chichester stone trains and i'd never noticed how small the warning panel was until it was repainted.
They do have a better headlight arrangement than most locos. That has it's pros and cons though, whilst you can see it approaching earlier, you tend to stand there wondering why someone is driving an HGV crossed with a UFO up the track!

Would be great in that top blue colour, if it was all done in that with a normal yellow pannel.

59005 has gained the same livery as 59001. In addition to this 59001 has been sent back to Eastleigh Works because the shade of green on the Aggregate Industries livery was too light.

It's ok - a bit too bright.

I like First's epic mass livery, purpley blue liveries... but every First brand has enforced that now.
