I didn't actually expect that sort of response I just gave you back what you gave me and I don't know everything I hardly know anything but what I do know is you need to learn to discuss rather than argue as this seriously isn't the place for it.

(PM me if you want to continue this talk) otherwise back to the body snatchers.

57's.. Do you all like them or dislike them? i dislike them for the fact that they use the 47 bodies killing off a 47 to create a 57 but it saves the shell from eventual scrap i guess.

Comments and thoughts please?

This is a really good point. the Class 47 had a very good body. The Brush built ones were stretched straight using water applied on the inside and heat on the outside. The Crewe built ones did not have this treatment. My dad who worked on them could tell a Loughborough built loco from a Crewe one at 100 yards (withiut looking for the oval and rectangular plates)

The 57 is still fundamentally a 47, only difference is the GM engine (all 2nd hand ex marine (none were ex railway)) and class 56 type alternator (later /3's had new build alternators),
The bogies, brake equipment etc and alot of the electrical equipment are as class 47 hence you still get the same old faults (bar engine).

The /6's seem like they fail alot but remember they actually do a days work compared to the /3's and now FLi have finished with them the /0's too.
