Morning all
I've seen 57308, this morning in Eastleigh East Yard! Not sure what they're doing with it.. It's been trundling up and down a few times, but now seems to be back on the stabling point, far side of platform 3!
Cheers
IAN

Ah, is that one of the ones that NR is taking over to use as Thunderbirds? Or if it's not one of them, maybe they're doing crew training in readiness.

Since when has NR been getting Virgin's 57s? I seem to be out of the loop a bit at the moment :P. Why is this happening and is NR Network rail or Northern and will they be repainted :)
Thanks in advance

Network Rail. Virgin decided they are suprlus to their needs, and the nameplates are/have being/been sold at a charity auction to raise money for CLIC Sargent.

I think the intention is to use them as 'Thunderbirds' on the Southern, since the couplers are (supposed to be) compatible with 375s and the like. They say that they're probably going to paint them yellow, like the 37s. That'll be something to see.

I remember reading that Southern tried to hire a Virgin 57 to act as a thunderbird before, but when it came to coupling it to a 377, they discovered that the couplers were at different heights, so some modification will be needed if this is the case :P
