It would be almost impossible to restore it to working condition (unless you're prepared to pay silly money) as it was modified to test overhauled power units.

well 56009/56201 has been at loughborough for ... its got to be 15 years or more...
its owned (or was owned) by BRUSH... not sure if it formed part of the sale to Wabtec.... so its not like its been abandoned, for the gypos to strip anything out of...unlike some other locos .
if memory serves me .. ISTR that there was talk several years ago about turning it into a gate guardian... but that obviously never happened...
