Brighton & Hove City Council and the seaside city’s local operators are launching a 50p fare for young people.
The council along with Brighton & Hove Buses, Stagecoach, Compass Travel and The Big Lemon are launching a campaign to promote two fare offers designed to get more young people travelling around Brighton & Hove by bus.
The offers include free travel by up to four children or young people aged 19 or under when accompanied by a fare paying adult or an adult concessionary pass holder. This offer applies at all times, but excludes night-time routes and journeys.
The promotion will also include 50p single journey tickets for unaccompanied children or young people under 19. This offer applies at off peak times only (after 6pm on school days), and any time on Saturdays, Sundays, Public Holidays and school holidays but excludes night time routes and journeys.
DfT funding for the Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan is being used to fund the offers.
So we've got two offers here:
- Free travel for up to four kids when accompanied by an adult
- 50p off-peak fares for unaccompanied people up to the age of 19
It's a bit confusing when the article says "excluding night-time routes", but then goes on to say that it applies "after 6pm on school days"; I assume that they really mean that night buses aren't included.
