The owning group are holding a vote to set which livery the loco should be painted in when it is repaired. To vote you have to make a donation towards the cost of the repair of the ETH generator which apparently failed last year.

Please vote for something authentic so we can see it in its glory!

See: http://www.fiftyfund.org.uk/'35_repaint_2014.htm for more details.

Thank you to everyone who took part and used their donation to vote for 50035's new livery.

And the winner is: BR Blue.

The appeal has raised over £6,600 which will be used to overhaul a spare ETH generator and fit it to Ark Royal's existing auxiliary generator.

Thank you again to everyone who took part. Your support is much appreciated.

Purely out of interest: will this be "defurbished" BR Blue with restored headcode panels and the headlight removed, ala 50044? Or a basic blue repaint as with 50007?

It will have to have a working headlight on the front somewhere unless it is going to do 20mph everywhere!

The loco is a 'preserved line only' one, but I'd still expect it to be retained for use there - although that's just my view and I could be proved wrong!

Oh I thought 035 was a mainline one.

It does annoy me when a heritage unit or loco is in a heritage livery with a poxy headlight on the front, surely there isnt a need for it or maybe move it to a less obvious position.

A thread about 50s that 455driver is posting in?! Must resist urge to post photo of 50s where there should be...the scrap yard.<D

On a serious note, I was never keen on 035 in Loadhaul livery, she'll look good in BR blue. :)

Indeed there is a way: If I recall correctly, mainline registered 50044 avoids the requirement to have the standard high intensity headlight fitted, as during it's restoration back to main line running a headlight was instead fitted in place of one of the two marker lights.

One of the tail lights, the drivers side one.

I never liked the Toadhall livery either.
