Hello, We’re down in Hampshire visiting my family this weekend.
They gave us tickets for the Watercress line which I’ve never been to so we’re using those.

My question is, whereabouts on the line is 50027 parked up & am I likely to be able to get a few photos of her?

Out of the 18 survivors of the class she’s the only one that I’ve not seen/photographed since withdrawal.

Last hauled by her back around 1987 but obviously I know haulage is out of the question on this visit.

No idea of the layout of the line or sidings/sheds etc as like I said I’ve never been.

The last time I saw/interacted with 50027 was at the Diesel gala back in 2024. She was at Ropley station in the sidings in front of the locomotive shed and workshops. However, when I visited earlier in the year to see Canadian Pacific, I vaguely recall 50027 being down one of the sidings beyond Ropley station towards Alton and only visible briefly as you departed Ropley.

I missed this year's diesel gala, so there's a good chance she might've been moved into a more prime position for that event.

Sorry I can't be more specific. Hopefully, someone who has been to the Watercress Line more recently might know more. Either way, enjoy your visit! :)

When I was there couple of weeks back she is in one of the sidings behind Ropley Station, but not very visible, just the end visible. You may be able to get a slightly better view from the road bridge, but I doubt it. Hidden away along with the 205 at the moment

Remember seeing her in a photo from a bridge at Ropley tucked away in a siding a few years ago

Fingers crossed it’s not that siding as I can’t see a photo being taken:frown:

Managed to see & photograph 50027 today (Saturday)
She was in the same position as your photo but I got shots of her from both ends.
Not the greatest shots but I was super happy seeing her
Photos are on my camera so will upload them when I’m back from Hampshire
