Well almost.....
Line blocked between Worcester Shrub Hill and Worcester Foregate Street

Due to a gauge excedence found by the Track testing measurement train

Measurement is 1493 , when it should read 1435

Line shut until at least tomorrow

Everything blocked between WOS and WOF with HFD bound trains express to WOF platform 2.

Small army of the guys in orange at WOF in the 4 foot of platform 1 when i came home at half 6 this evening, even though it's a station not an easy place to get too, no parking and lots of steps!

Both lines through the station are jointed track, it takes a pounding. There have been lengths of new rail in the cess/4 foot for will over a year now..... A forgotten plain line renewal?

Now if only we had that cable car....

I was thinking this would be about the gauge for some of the more outlandish methods recently suggested for getting to Foregate Street.

Disappointed that nobody suggested a Hyperloop. Arrive at Shrub Hill before you've left Foregate.

In all seriousness, lots of ballast dug out every few sleepers and ties installed. Is spread more likely seeing as its jointed track, wooden sleepers, on a curve, canted and sees everything from 150's to IEP's breaking to a stand for all of the day in both directions?

Of those I'd suggest wooden sleepers are the most important factor - rotting around the screws means the chairs can become free to move sideways. The attachments for the fixings are an integral part of a concrete or steel sleeper so unlikely to move unless it is pretty much destroyed.
