I often see this loco seemingly dumped at Crewe. It was there yesterday. it looks in pretty poor exterior nick.

Is it still owned by Rivera trains? is it a goer? Does it ever move? If not what purpose does it serve?

I thought it was more than a carriage heater, I have seen it shunting stock this year but I think Riviera have a couple of 08s now.

Surely 08s can't heat carriages though? So there's still a use for the old girl. Reminds me of the end of the Blue Pullmans.

Cheers - do Riviera actually do any =thing these days?

They still hire out sets of coaches mainly to Pathfinder, some non-wcrc operated Compass trips and also for foot-exs etc.

So more a coaching stock provider rather than a full train provider?

Yes - the locos in their fleet (47812/815/843/847/848) don't see much mainline use. 47812/843 are currently at Barrow Hill for some repairs prior to hire to GB Railfreight, but nothing much else goes on with the fleet.
