I saw it reported on wnxx.com this morning that DRS have repainted 47790 into Pullman brown and cream with “Northern Belle” branding to match the livery of the coaching stock of that train, and very smart it looks too.

It’s out today on a 06:55 Chester to Kensington Olympia (via Stafford and Birmingham) “Northern Belle” tour to the Chelsea Flower Show and Hampton Court. It’s nice to see the Northern Belle back in the hands of 47s again now that DRS are operating the contract.

It does look rather smart, but I can't help rather liking the sight of the full DRS one on the back of the train - I rather like it when the loco is in a different livery to the rest of the train - harks back to 'the old days', when that was the norm, I suppose... :)

to be fair, it was BR that started the "same livery as the coaches" thing- rail blue locos with blue/grey stock for one example, and then came sectorisation- Intericty, NSE and RR all used (or attempted to use) matching coach and loco liveries.
