I saw 47501 passing through Platform one at Milton Keynes yesterday. (being held at a red signal by my train waiting time on platform 2, to be fair!!) It then hammered through Bletchley, southbound, a few minutes later. Where was it going, and why?? Anyone??
Also, when I into Euston on my last bit today, what sounded like a 47 at full chat when past me in Primrose Hill Tunnel, with something in tow. I heard tell it was a couple of Skodas.......

Anyone able to shed some light on these two workings??

Also, at the stone terminal at Bletchley, they receive trains quite often, but they're usually Shed hauled, but sometimes a Tug. Do these trains come from different areas, and that's what decides the traction, or is it whatever DBS see fit to put on it??

Perhaps working back from Wolverton having dropped off some Anglia stock for works attention?

There are paths a couple of times a week for an FL working from Bardon Hill but i have only ever seen one FL service in the stone terminal in 4.5 years

It is likely that the 47 had just delivered it's 90 or mk3s to Wolverton Works and was returning 'light' to Norwich Crown Point (about ten to two).

Perhaps it had been at Wolverton Works, but when it went past me on full chat today, it was heading North.....

47501 yesterday worked from Norwich Cr Pt to Wolverton C Sidings with 12118 and 11087, then returned to Norwich Cr Pt. Today 47501 hauled 47828 and 90002 to Crewe IEMD.

That's right. I was working the 1347 ex MKC all shacks to London and saw it being held to let me out before it.

Wolverton to Norwich is a fair old LE move. Mind you, prolly cheaper to pay the wages and diesel for the 47 than to get the crew a taxi back!! That must surely be one of the longest single engine LE moves for many a year!!

47828 is broken and was retuned to Gresty Bridge. 90002 is at Crewe Electric for an F exam (I think) and will be off to Toton in a few weeks for repaint.

While 47805 is also broken, sat in the sidings next to Norwich station with the short set.

I was wondering if it is cheaper to move an engine back to Crewe from Norwich for attention rather than get a fitter and mate by road the other way.

Its a pain that 47828 is moving back to Gresty Bridge as I am going to the open day with my friend, who needs it for sight, and I owe him a West Mids Day Ranger when he sees it.

It is an aggregates train - Bardon Hill is a big quarry near Coleville - operated by FL. I assume it must be the heavy haul side of the business. I have seen it run once in 4.5 years.

There is also a Q (as required) path for a late night Stud Farm - Willesdeen ballast working. That MAY also be an FL service but i am in bed when that runs! Sometimes it runs via the Marston Vale, sometimes via the WCML

In bits at Carnforth. My dad hopes 772 will be restored to replace it as that is his all time favourite 47.
