Hi I couldn't help but seeing this about Stanier Jubilee 45690 Leander.
I know it started it's preservation life at the Dinting railway centre after being bought by its first owner, Severn Valley Railway, from Barry scrapyard in 1972.
In 1994 it was bought by Chris Beet, the son of Dr Peter Beet and both had a significant role in heritage steam traction preservation and over West coast railways base at Carnforth and the lakeside and Haverthwaite railway.
However the question I ask is that according to Wikipedia, 45690 Leander mainline registered loco has a ten year boiler ticket and a 7 year mainline ticket and a 3 year extension to their mainline ticket.
If the loco is found to be in good working mechanical order after 7 years through its boiler certificate, so 45690 Leanders boiler ticket expires in 2024.
However its 7 year mainline ticket ran out in 2021 and according to Wikipedia, Chris Beet won't grant 45690 a further 3 years, whether this is due to how expensive it is getting for him perhaps to keep it on the mainline including overhaul costs certification costs, which may have put him off continuing to run 45690 on the mainline.
But it still has 2 and a half years on the boiler ticket so could this be seen out on the East Lancs line to run its boiler ticket out where 45690 Leander was kept a bit over years previously and then the inevitable plinth as a static exhibit somewhere after 2024.
Would anyone here able to shed more light on the future of 45690, after all it is/was a famous mainline performer.
