45112 Farce

Many people did not think it would make it...

Well, looks like they may be right

45112 has got a leaking brake valve on number 2 end cab at Minehead. It cant
maintain brake pressure,onboard fitter now in attendance with a hammer!

Problem solved with the 45,a driver will ride in 47828 on the rear with a live desk to help hold the brake pressure

Well I'm pleased to hear it's been fixed. I'm no fan of peaks, but there are others who are, and it's always very disappointing when your favoured loco bursts (I've been there!). Also, any failure always attracts a whole load of negative publicity, which does nothing to help the cause for preserved locos. If a 66 had a brake problem which was rectified a bit later, nobody would bat an eyelid...

I think it very sad some people got excited about 45112 failing. What if it was your favourite loco on the train that failed and got substituted - you wouldnt be happy then

And Im not a peak fan, and dont really have a favourite loco type, just like seeing heritage traction have a place on the mainline

I admit to taking pleasure in finding out the Peak went wrong. I just don't like Peaks.

With regards to all those who ask why such people are excited at the Peak failing, well it's a lot like life. Friends are happy when you succeed but happier when you fail. This relates to rail in that, say, 40 bashers will be happy to see another loco working in preservation but happier to see a loco they'd have flagged once fail.

I'm surprised 47840 didn't go balls up with it mind!

This really does say a lot about relations with the 'friends' that you have. If my friends thought like this, I'd get some new ones - and I'd be a bit concerned about myself if I was happy when my friends failed at things.
