4472 'Flying Scotsman' on the ELR, 1993

Just found the following videos on youtube of 4472 'The Flying Scotsman' visiting the East Lancashire Railway in February 1993. In total the videos last 15 mins, they are partially narrated, and with shots from various locations it certainly makes some interesting viewing:

Note how at times the loco is clearly travelling at speeds of over 25mph which is now not permitted on heritage routes. Obviously this is before the rule was enforced - nevertheless it is refreshing to see.

Watching the video made me realise just what a fantastic locomotive The Flying Scotsman is, and although we now have Tornado etc it would be great to see her return to full steam again.

Nice videos there. Not a lot has changed in 16 years at the ELR, looking at those clips!

It's be nice to see it running again...preferably in single chimney form and no smoke deflectors...

Also, may I make a small, but passionate plea to call it 'Flying Scotsman'? I despair at the BBC's insistence on calling locos 'The Tornado' and 'The Oliver Cromwell'!

One of the Steam magazines showed the boiler being fitted back on the frames the other day. But it was only a trial to make sure it still fitted. The cynic in me wonders if the NRM did it just to make people shut up about the choice of boiler.

Be nice to see it running again. Not that I wouldnt prefer to see Lode Star and Evening star get its share of resources mind.
