What was the original number of this HST power car?

I thought all renumbered power cars had 200/300/400 added to their original numbers but I see both 43074 and 43174 are currently in existence.

Furthermore, are there any HST power cars still in storage?

43274 was 43074. You can tell as it has the Midland Mainline three-piece headlight clusters. I'm not sure what leads you to think the number 43074 is still in use.

EC and XC powercars all had 200 added to their number when re-engined, GC ones had 400 added, with the exception of 43123 which had 300 added. FGW powercars and the NMT were not renumbered. 43074 no longer exists!

I guess it was changed in the last two years?

My last record that shows 43074 was in May 2011. Didn't realise that some of them were renumbered this recent. So I guess "currently in existence" is a bit of an overstatement.

Was it because this was one of the power cars that recently (within the past couple of years) passed from EMT, who use standard numbers, to EC (+200)?

That's right.

43072 (now 43272) was the other power car to transfer to East Coast with 43074 - which was the last HST power car in MML livery.
