Hi everyone.
This may be discussing long-gone rolling stock, but there's one thing that's been puzzling me since these units were in service:

The 4-SUB units and Bulleid design EPB stock had a toplight above the main window on each door. In seemingly random cases these toplights were absent, usually on the odd door here and there.
Were these doors new-build replacements or originals with the toplight or vent plated over? Look at the guards door on 4-EPB 5006 on the link below:

Dan - your link takes me to an error message "Can't find that page"

I have an old ABC of electric stock (1948) and the 4SUB in that clearly has the top light in every door. I don't have any more recent pictures, but would expect that those doors without toplights were replacements for damaged doors. But I don't know the detail.

the bulleid design EPB & BR EPB have different body profiles...the BR EPB design is a flat sided..flat end 'standard' design

i think you will find that The bulleid Fleets of SUB & EPB have a slight curve in the body...as do the doors..

that i think was the incompatiabilty between the epb fleets..everything else was interchangable...

Talking of that - CEP Coaches - the PA system speakers were different in the roof...i have found that you cannot swap between certain coaches...the holes are different sizes...but that was classic swindon for you...great stuff...done to swidon design...
