Was driving the Pendo 13:00 Maybank to Hammerwich. After you pass Kings Road but before Clifton Greenbridge, theres a section where you have 4 yellow boxes, two on each side of the track (forgotten the name) where the power goes out, and it usually comes back on but didnt. this time for some reason a different alarm sound came on and a red light appeared just below the windscreen, what are you supposed to press? the pendo was dead after it and dont know how to get the power back.

Hi Adamp,

I'm not 100% certain, but it sounds like you drove the Pendolino through the neutral section of overhead power lines, whilst you still had the throttle open.

When/If this is the case, the Pendolino normally does sound a different, higher pitched alarm/beeping sound, which alerts the driver to his error.

The result, is that the Pendolino shuts down, as you correctly said yourself, and you can only resume driving, once the Pendolino has come to a complete stand.

The brakes apply, as per emergency braking, and the Pendolino behaves just as it would do, if you suddenly told it to shut down the pantograph, by pressing no.3 .

I hope this helps, and just make sure you're not applying power as you go through either of the two neutral sections.

Edit: You have to reboot the Pendo in the usual manner- Remember to move the reverser back into neutral, before pressing number 2, or the Pendo won't start up.

you have driven the train through a neutral section still on juice, you need to shut off power briefly to avoid the pantograph arcing electricity. as it would in real life, it lowers it to avoid this if it is about to arc.

Just to add to what's been posted, the little yellow "blocks" are strong powered magnets that stop the driver applying power in the section .

From what Adam has said, it also sounds like he has triggered the TPWS? Would having power applied through a neutral section trigger this? Or would he have been going too fast?

If you've been accelerating since the 75 out of Riverside and the 90 out of Kings Road, by the time you reach the Neutral section you should have shut off at line speed (Well, I do anyway!)

Bit too enthusiastic Adam? Although I have managed to hit 140mph on the 4 track section before heavy braking for Norton :-P

Definantely not TPWS haha. And abit too enthusiastic? Im used to trains like the Class 323, that sorts itself out.
Wasnt going too fast for sure, only just reached the limit of 90.
Its clear what the problem was, thanks guys!

Whats the terminology for these magnets/sections of track?
Interested in how they work/why they need to stop the power.

They put in neutral sections to seperate the two parts of the OHLE powered by a different place.

It's funny though as I went through both Neutral sections on full power, and I didn't screech to a halt? :-?:-?

There is a degree of randomness built into the plugin; it won't happen every time.

The randomness is prototypical. In real life, Quite a few times out of 10, you'll get away with drawing power over the neutral. The odd time you won't
