I haven't seen 387107 for several months. My last record of it is from April last year. Has it suffered a major failure, or been involved in an accident? Can anybody throw any light on the cause of its absence is, please? Many thanks.

Seem to remember it was involved in a fatality incident. Must have sustained more than superficial damage, otherwise with GTR being somewhat short of units over the last couple of months it would have been back if at all possible.

I think 387101 is still being used for ETCS work so that makes two unavailable.

Does anybody have any update on this unit, please, as I believe it is still out of service?

3 scenarios about the prolonged delay occur to me.

I can imagine that after the fatality mentioned in message 2 by Brambling there was little wrong with unit but it has become a handy christmas tree for Hornsey and is now in need of more significant work.

Or that the unit was badly damaged and the repair work is long and complex.

Or there was something suspicious about the circumstances of the fatality and the unit is legally impounded while any court action etc. is ongoing? I do not mean to suggest by this that there is any fault whatsoever by anybody within the railway industry.

Unit was robbed of parts while it awaited repair of the cab front fibreglass damage caused by the fatality. Now that’s repaired there sadly arent enough parts to get it running again at the moment.
