I like that but I think walk through carriages are a must.
The stock being offered for Thameslink and Crossrail both have walk through carriages like the 378.

DFT said:High Capacity: Passenger Movement and Interior Design
•
Wide doorways and large stand-backs
•
2+2 seat layout to ease flow and provide standing space
•
Folding and tip-up seats to provide multi-functional
spaces
•
Open wide gangways may offer additional standing
space
•
Plenty of handholds for standing passengers
The DfT's interior specification begs to differ...

Honestly, that was 20seconds with google...!
And if you read what I put I said what is being offered, not for what was originally asked for. Not what the DfT originally speced.
Any walk through video would show you that.

You mean like this walk through video that shows 2+2 seating throughout for the Desiro City that is the EXACT product offered by Siemens Mobility for Thameslink, and probably will be offered for Crossrail...?
We should ban ambiguous terminology...
We should ban ambiguous terminology, I took it to mean LU style seating, rather than 'open intra-unit connections'

Class 332/333's were designed for speeds of 160mph.
I am concerned about seat width. The First refurbished 319's on Thameslink currently have both 3+2 and 2+2 but the 2+2 is with narrow seats to allow circulation space and they are terrible because you are constantly squeezed against your seat partner plus leg room is not enough if you are 6'3" like me. The 2+2 in these have all the problems of 3+2 but with a big standing area in the middle.
Trouble is DfT think squeezing people into cattle truck conditions is acceptable
You see the DfT thinks that people only use TL to go between core stations, like a heavy rail underground line. As such standing room is their priority.
They don't seem to realise many people commute 50 miles on the line.
I'd be interested to know if anyone has experience of 378s at high speed. What's the noise/environment like with the wide gangways and sliding doors?
I did a post last year too.
A 4 car class 377 has 6 motors each rated at 250 kW
A class 379 has 6 motors rated at 200 kW.
A 378 unit has 9!motors, 3 on each vehicle except on the vehicle where the pantagraph is fitted
