That picture is taken in the area under the pantograph well, I reckon, where there are no racks. The luggage racks in the distance are what you normally find throughout the rest of the unit.

Doh, you're right. I was looking at the reflections in the glass and not really puzzling why the light beyond was nearer the middle of the ceiling !. Could not work it out even though I tried.

Managed to make the 0632 service this morning from NWD > LBG, was lead by 377605.

As mentioned before, it is very bright and airy inside. The automatic announcements are notably patchy at the moment, not every word was at the same volume. Door release sounds are different from other Electrostars (and 357s) south of the river - not sure about 379s).

Took some pictures, note that they are slightly tinted yellow - the interior is whiter.

It could be throughout, didnt get a good look at the other cars, but that was taken in the Panto car (PTOSL (W)).
Won't be on an early for a while so not sure when next I'd be able to catch a 6 in the wild

I noticed 377604 and 377605 running on the usual evening services last night (Wed 2nd Oct). Does anyone know if any other units have made it into passenger service ?.

I noticed the dividing doors for the potential first class were at the London end yesterday so presumably there is some part of that diagram that effectively turns them round.

Just to remind the diagram I have seen (in the afternoon) is :-

Only 377604/605 have been commissioned. Last I heard 606 was nearly done with 613 yet to start.

The units are pretty much stuck on that diagram although they aren't always on them especially in the mornings.

The last to are the unit number so its 377618.

No. They are only 2 units commissioned (604/605) with 606/607 still being commissioned and 609/613/618 at Stewarts Lane.

Weekends are a little way off yet but should happen this year with booked runs from December.

The tables have dark tops to them like southeastern class 375s... always wondered why southern had plain white tables... southern must have changed the connex spec but are now reverting to what look like dark blue tops

It is a different table design I think. All later 377's (2's and 4's I believe) have grey tables.

According to the system 604/605 have returned to Stewarts Lane, however I saw 377607 at Selhurst on the lines nearest the London Bridge lines quite close to the up lines.

It did cross my mind that it might be 18; wasn't aware that there would be so many of them as units are not my strong point

Easy way with the 6s is use the 4th & 5th digits for unit numbers with the 3rd for which carriage, ie 1st 2nd etc.

Ditto that...607 was in one of the stub sidings tonight (7th Oct) next to the ongoing building work at the depot.

It was nestled behind one of the parts of the outdoor carriage cleaning area (in layman's terms, in front of the depot as you pass it on the way to Norwood Junction) at around 1310 today. It looked pretty smart, as you'd expect. I have to say, though, that the black material around the windows looks rather "plasticky" in bright sunlight, in comparison to that of the other subclasses.

Noted at 13:00 today (Friday 11/10/2013) 377607 on its own between the Norwood Junction to Selhurst lines and the Eastern most train shed. As it was towards the Norwood Junction end it should be visible from trains going to/from Norwood Junction and East or West Croydon just depends if your train is burrowing under the junctions as I cannot remember how far north the ramps start. I saw it from Tennison Road overbridge with binoculars btw.

So I guess 377604 and 377605 are still doing the usual diagram today.

Sorry I've not updated the thread. The units have been back and forth to Stewarts Lane a few times. They've missed the morning runs a few times but generally the evening peak they've stuck like glue to them.

377607 has been sat there for over a week now. 606 hasn't been out recently and not quite sure where it is.

There is a video on Youtube uploaded this morning (not naming but well known railway enthusiast) that shows 609 & 613 passing through Paddock Wood on test/training.

Don't know if they will be the next units into service. Or maybe 607 will be coupled to 609 in service?

At the Southern Passenger Panel this afternoon it was confirmed 377/6 will run to Brighton at weekends, and that there will be a designated First Class area 'similar to the 377/4'.

Interesting. I was thinking perhaps they just need to have the first class stickers retro-fitted ?. I cannot remember the purpose of the 377/7 subclass. Was it perhaps that they have first class stickers ?. I felt it was some other reason though.

At some point soon (hopefully) there will be enough 377/6s available to mean they will start appearing on some other diagrams during the week. Does anyone know what these diagrams will be or will they just drift into any general 10-car diagram ?.

Southern have themselves confirmed the 377/7 are for the Milton Keynes service.

Simple case of putting headrests and sticking some stickers up on a Friday night and removing them on a Sunday night.

The original plan was for four 377/6 diagrams in September but that's since gone out the window with only three for service now. Initially they were to drift into the 10 car diagrams before those diagram going over to 377/6 diagrams.

Curiously today the diagrams used had changed but the services hadn't. They used to be 901/902 diagrams but sure they were 63x diagrams today.

Took a trip the other day in these units. Very good ride but seats very hard - ok for commuter trips maybe but somewhat unsuitable for Brighton runs.
