Could anybody please tell me the difference between the braking systems of 377 and 378 units? Why should a 377 unit be placed into 'Neutral' when it comes to a stand before it can take power again?

It might be company policy, I can't see there being a technican reason.

In most circumstances you'd want to put it into neutral when at a stand anyway to stop the vigilance/foot pedal from operating.

Company policy I would suspect. Mine is full service, neutral, DRA on until the signal clears.

No requirement to put it in neutral at stations provided the signal is clear

Must be a company policy. I used to sign 377s and you can certainly stop in forward and then take power again without going into neutral.
