377/2 in FCC Livery

Spent a bit of time in London yesterday, and spotted at least 2 x 377/2 units in FCC livery on ThamesLink services. Units were 377207 and 377212.

Just wondering why they have been repainted - thought it was just the 377/5 that were in this livery ?

there were 3x class 377/s subleased from Southern to FCC during 2012...
AIUI all 3 were vinyled rather than repainted

off the top of my head i can't remember all the units involved

You can tell which ones they are because the door open buttons are green and not yellow. But other than that it is hard to tell.

IIRC, they start at Bedford in the morning, run down to Brighton, go ECS to Preston Park sidings until the evening peak then run back up to Bedford.

Might be the 1607 Brighton to Bedford they work actually, have seen it a few times on that service.

The units I saw were part of a 12 car train, but I only managed to get the numbers from 2 out of 3 units.

They were on a service heading north towards Bedford around 17:30pm, so that also ties in to the 4pm (ish) departure from Brighton.

It's always on 1W94 northbound, and Bald Rick can often be found on it.

There is one other way to tell them from the FCC units, and that is the huge speech bubbles on the side saying 'longer 12 coach trains'.

As part of the Southern franchise, 3x 377/2 were loaned long term until the arrival of the class 700 Desiro Cities. As they are only for (limited) FCC use, they are in FCC livery. Makes sense as you don't want confusion with one return trip a day.

The three units are kept together when with FCC. On Monday morning they travel from Selhurst depot to Bedford to make the 07:48 2T21 Bedford to Brighton. They then sleep at Preston Park prior to making 16:04 1W94 Brighton to Bedford. Then then go to bed in Jowitt sidings. All week then cone out of the sidings and repeat the pattern. On Friday night they leave Jowetts from Selhurst to spend he weekend getting looked at and spilt down.

They have run as an 8 car before now as well as run more than one return journey a day before. But they are limited usage.
