Don't think this has been reported here yet - 37198 has been repainted into BR Green, and was transported to the Head of Steam museum in Darlington for preservation a few days ago.

Was this the yellow one biffed at the GC?
It was, and long term resident in Derby RTC for a number of years. Judging by the way it was moved up from Derby to Darlington (Completely shrink-wrapped), LORAM have obviously worked hard to restore it for it's second turn in Preservation.
It is due to officially be unveiled today - So it might be worth keeping an eye out for photos of it on the Head of Steam Facebook page today.

thanks - I understand that is the case and that the paint work is excellent
Been a good few years since I was last at that museum (as a little municipal museum well worth a visit even if it won't knock your socks off!) but where are they going to put a 37? I don't recall them having that much room to play with!! Though I guess since the NRM stole Locomotion for their museum up the road at Shildon they might have a little more room to play with.

As a long-time Thornaby loco, it should feel very much at home in retirement there!

Locomotion is/has gone to Shildon but is coming back to Darlington in 2025 and then again at various times in the future. it is to be "shared" apparently. This deal seems the result of the involvement of the local tory boy MP and his discussion with the PM!
One might wonder if this class 37 is a counter weight in the deal.

Must admit the location is a concern of mine - I can remember a DMU that was parked here 25 years ago....

It looks like it is stood on the track outside the Hopetown Carriage works. I think that is the vehicular access point, although getting a wagon in there must be fun. Not sure how you get it from there to the museum mind!
( it is within the fenced compound - hopefully it is going into the carriage work building for safe keeping)
