Was a fine looking machine before it was vandalised...A fine-looking machine!
"Vandalised" ? Would that be the cab modification to reduce draughts by any chance ?Was a fine looking machine before it was vandalised...
Plating over the nose end doors is one thing."Vandalised" ? Would that be the cab modification to reduce draughts by any chance ?
(A modification first carried out on a class 37 around 40 years ago, I must add)
More so when the reports are that Boden took it upon himself to do said surgery against the permission of Colas. Colas are, from what I gather, still understandably not happy.Plating over the nose end doors is one thing.
Ripping off the split boxes is quite another!
Which is pretty ineffective measure due to the nose side grilles being very effective at allowing drafts in. There are very few Split box 37s left so disappointing to lose another one, especially when I was informed by a reliable source at the time that part of the sale conditions to Colas was to retain the doors and boxes..."Vandalised" ? Much more important, though, is that it is still in mainline operation, and still with 12CSVT engine in it. The EE Type 3 was undoubtedly one of BR's best purchases.Which is pretty ineffective measure due to the nose side grilles being very effective at allowing drafts in. I totally agree with you. Why are so many people overreacting to the loss of split headcode boxes on this 37? I don’t understand it. You would think that 37 fans would be grateful that their 60-year old favourite locos are still operating on the mainline!Much more important, though, is that it is still in mainline operation, and still with 12CSVT engine in it. Colas has been looking at moving their Class 37s away from Boden for some time. Also HNRC Switelsky now have the contract to give Colas 37s F exams, starting with 37421. Perhaps this contract was given to them due to the poor quality of 37099?
37057 split box removal to be done by Harry needle then I take it?Also HNRC Switelsky now have the contract to give Colas 37s F exams, starting with 37421. Perhaps this contract was given to them due to the poor quality of 37099?
I'm not sure if 057 will lose the boxes. Is it confirmed or is it still a romour? They could rebuild the boxes.37057 split box removal to be done by Harry needle then I take it?
It’s under discussion in SEtrains own thread.I'm not sure if 057 will lose the boxes. Is it confirmed or is it still a romour? They could rebuild the boxes.
