What is wrong with Braunton as I believe she is now unavailable for the trip to the coast next week.? Strangely the owners advertised her use on this train only a couple of hours before I received an email about the trip being cancelled.

I was booked on next weeks train with Braunton, 11 Dec from VIC to Eastbourne and Hastings.

I Am not sure what the problem is, but on Thursday I had the ticket come through for that trip. Then the next day I had an e-mail advising that the train had been cancelled owing to a failure with Braunton that can not be fixed in time for that tour and there was not an alternative loco available that could be cleared to operate the trip at such short notice. Hence the cancellation.

I think originally the train was due to be hauled by Tangmere, which had been out of action for a while, then recently came back, but I understand Tangmere then had a problem in SWT land a week or so ago. That is I presume the reason why Braunton was going to haul the train instead.

It is such a shame when these things happen, especially so close to travel.

It was even more annoying, as to save time on the 11th, I had just purchased my tickets from home to Victoria, so not sure if they will refund that as well as the steam train fare. Oh well will spend the day doing household chores instead.

I am equally disappointed. The locomotive's owners posted on Facebook that Braunton was going to be used and then two hours later I receive an email from the promoter saying it is cancelled. Very strange.

Yes, it is a great pity. I had not travelled behind Braunton so it would have been good to do so. Hope they get it fixed and running again soon.

The owners are now promoting trips with a different charterer, at greatly inflated prices ,make of that what you will.
