A rather limited timetable today due to problems with cracked crossing points at Wokingham, presumably set such that trains can run Reading to Waterloo but not towards Guildford.

The service today has just been covered by the two units at Redhill overnight which isn't sufficient to run an hourly service. Presumably they will run out of fuel soon as well unless they can get to Selhurst or back to Reading via Woking and Basingstoke.

Wokingham cracked crossing points
From Thursday 01st March until Friday 09th March the line is blocked between Wokingham and Blackwater due to cracked crossing points.

There doesn't seem to be a STP working back to or from Reading in the Network Rail feeds yet. Not a great situation.

Presumably an hourly service between Blackwater and Redhill or whatever they can resource until this is fixed.

They were route cleared to Selhurst a few years back, but was it ever done in practice, as well as Reading via Woking and Basingstoke.

Pretty sure they’re still good to East Croydon, but not sure about the depot. The fuel point has been busy enough today, anyway! The shunters shall have to add a “foreign unit” tax...

You could pilot all the way with quite a few of the Southern drivers, indeed I can think of at least one or two who might possibly even sign both Turbo traction and the routes. Long shot, though.

I think they may have given up trying to run any service as the online maps (eg http://www.opentraintimes.com/maps/signalling/vtb2) show a turbo headcode in the sidings at Redhill and there is a 5O44 on the approach to Reigate from the west.

Realtimetrains now shows no GWR trains at Guildford tomorrow (although this may be whilst they are trying to sort out an emergency timetable)

The turbos were passed for the route but with out of gauge instructions as didn’t fit through all the platforms along the way or weren’t allowed to be passed by other trains at certain locations.

Redhill drivers sign the turbos.

'Normal' route back to Reading, I understand, with a complex shunt/wrong line working to get past the blockage.

Which particular bit of running line (ie up / down / set of points) is the blockage on?

No service from Redhill to Reigate after the 20:06 Southern tonight - GWR have given up and Southern can't be bothered. Last bus to Reigate Station already left. Still pleasant evening for a walk.

Thanks for the confirmation! The restrictions don’t surprise me, to be fair.

Redhill drivers sign the turbos.

Link 1 drivers only, for the most part.

I got it the wrong way round; to Reading is unaffected, from Reading requires ECS to reverse at Wokingham and shunt. The failed points are the ones that decide whether a train goes to London or Guildford.
