2TGH excess

X2 passengers travel from A to B day return with a 2TGH railcard. Both passengers then travel from B to C x1 passenger holds season ticket from B to C. The 2nd passenger also travels from B to C what sort of excess if any can the 2nd passenger be sold?

The T&Cs state that Both named cardholders must be travelling together to enable discounted tickets to be used. I can't see anything that states that both passengers have to both be using the same ticket, or both be using railcard-discounted tickets.

However, clerks and TISes may take a different view

I would assume it would be a B-C day return for the second passenger but I'd wait for someone else to confirm that.

No excess can be sold if they have already done the A-B leg.

If done before travel, it is possible an overriding/overdistance excess can be sold (but this will depend heavily on what the staff in question can or will do) for the difference between A-B and A-C, at the railcard rate.

In general with excess tickets, there is a lot of variation across the industry in terms of staff ability and knowledge. Sometimes you may be sold an excess even if you aren't technically entitled to one, and on other occasions you may be unable to obtain an excess despite it being allowed.
