GN 387 lost power and has failed causing disruption on the south bound slow between Hitchin and Stevenage. So far 120 minutes late.
With air pressure problems

The train is formed of 2 units. It is not proving possible move the train or to silence numerous alarms in the leading cab since the air leak (which was a major leak between units). The air leak itself is now fixed.

There have been attempts to use various methods of last resort (Traction Interlock Switch / Emergency Bypass Switch) to override the brakes, without any success.

The units are also unable to uncouple to allow one of them to take passengers to a station (due to crewing arrangements there are sufficient drivers to do this).

It's all looking increasingly impossible. I must admit I can't think of a similar scenario involving 387s on GX since they've been in service on that side of GTR!

The front unit has made it to Stevenage after being uncoupled by fitters. Just shy of 3 hours late...

The rear unit has not yet moved.

Rear unit now moving. ECS from the front portion is still in front of it, stood in the platform at Stevenage.

EDIT: Both portions on the move now.

It's worth noting the air leak wasn't 'fixed' was it? More the coupler isolated hence the huge problem moving with the unit isolated to the hills even with another driver in the rear unit.

Perhaps I should have said “stopped”. Looks like the isolation of the leak was definitely needed (major damage to something to do with the main res, apparently) but it also led to the coupling being unusable.

At one point, the front unit would have been happy to move but the rear unit could neither move nor be uncoupled...
