Hello again.........well back in June i started doing my exams etc for Trainee Train driver for F.C.C , passed everything all the way to the Interviews, which was where it ended ! I will apply again when the 6 months is up (December )Has anyone on here gone back for their 2nd time and still not passed, also when you do go back for your 2nd attempt do you have to re-take everything again,or just the parts you didnt pass ?
Hopefully someone can help answer this for me,thanks !

Be aware that if they sent you for the 'Assessment On The Machine', another FirstGroop outfit have been caught out in the past telling people they didn't pass when they infact actually did - I know of one case which started last month.

The machine test (pedals, lamps, reaction test) is the one that counts and even if unsuccessful at their interview, that assessment is valid for any train company, and you may want to mention that when applying to other operators.

Usually the machine test is done by a contract company (used to be EWS in Donc or CCL Crewe in the north), they usually tell you on the day if you passed it, and if you request it later, have to provide you with a copy of your results under data protection. :)

If you pass all the tests but fail the structured interview (CBI), does that still cound as one of your two attempts? If you were to fail the interview for a second time is it then game over?

If you pass the assessments and fail the interview then yes that does count as your first failure, once you have waited the full 6 months you can then reapply for a driving position with any TOC, when they call you back in you will only be assessed on the things you failed before (so if you failed on interview then thats all you will be assessed on), you will not have to retake the assessments there are 2 excetpions to this rule, first is if something happens to you in the time period between when you first passes the assessments and when they call you up for interview (eg normally if you have had say a car accident or opperation that would affect your reactions) or the 3 years expires from when you first passed your assessments as the tests are only valid for 3 years if this time expires then you will have to retake the assessments to make sure you still meet the grade.

I know of a lot of drivers working for SWT at the moment that failed their interviews first time but passed on their second attempt, I my self have failed the interview back in 2009 I'm just waiting for a position to come up at my depot of choice to have another go at it and fingers cross i pass this time too :)
