2nd Job within the Railway Industry

Folks,
just a wee question for my fellow forum friends.Does anyone have a fulltime job outwith the Railways and a second job with them,ie partime,weekends, causual.l hope l dont offend,however l dont mean people who are at college/studying ect.

is the above possible? l am not looking for a career change however would like to be involved in this sector.

Don't know about Network Rail or the major TOC's but I'd imagine that Heritage / Preserved Railways would be a logical choice here. Don't know if the work would be paid or not though, but it would certainly be a good way to get a bit of experience and get involved in your spare time.

Virgin have been taking on casual staff recently, not seen such contracts advertised anywhere else though. Part time vacancies do crop up sporadically however.
At present I work part time on the railways whilst spending the rest of my time on various other enterprises.

Motherwell have part time TE's for barriers, Dalmuir have part time on train TE's also, keep your eyes open.
