Wednesday 28-9-2011 I made a video clip of 34067 "Tangmere" running through Wandsworth. This clip can be seen on my YouTube channel.

Greetings,

I have been booked on a 'steamdreams' circular tour on December 22nd from London - Dover & return (Christmas Present from my wife), I am joining the train at Redhill and I believe the loco performing the honours is Tangmere :)

I am very much looking forward to riding behind her, is anyone else likely to be booking up for this tour? (£55 standard, details on steamdreams website

Hi Ben, I am booked on that Steam Dreams Christmas circular train, I have done that a few times before and it has always been very good. The last 2 years there was a lot of snow and many of the electric service trains could not get through the snow and or pick up the electricity from the 3rd rail, whereas the steam train got throiugh with no problems and I think on the evening train Steam Dreams ran 2 years ago, they picked up some stranded commuters from London Victoria and dropped them off at some of the staions enroute, that must of pleased them. It even got a good mention on
Radio 4s, Today programme a day or 2 later. A very good advert for steam travel over modern traction. :D Maybe see you on board?

Tickets have been issued tonight & I have printed mine off from the e-mail that 'Steam Dreams' sent me. I am joining & leaving the trip at Redhill (I live in Crawley so makes sense rather than paying to get up to London)

Because NR haven't been able to provide a platform at Redhill on the outward journey, I have to meet the steward (s) at Redhill and then travel on the 09.51 Southern Service & then join the train at Purley. All fun lol.

I hope you enjoy the trip, I know I am very much looking forward to it.

Thanks, yes got my tickets today too, I will be joining at London Victoria and note that this train will be departing from Platform 7, they usually go from Platform 2, but I presume need to be further over to join the Sussex Lines as the train is going that way first. I am in coach J, which although I hope will be towards the front near the loco, I think it will at the rear. I hope you and anyone else who is booked on this train also have an enjoyable day. Rgds Steve.

Hi Steve, yes nice to meet you too as well. I very much enjoyed the trip thanks, already trying to secure time off work for the July 05th trip from Lewes via Three Bridges to Oxford behind Tornado. Haven't enjoyed a main line trip behind the Tornado yet so I want to see what all the fuss is about lol.

Tornado is good, but you will get a different ride, it's quite quiet and you don't seem to get so smokey as you tend to with Tangmere. Hopefully you may get some fast running. All locos are different, it's nice to compare them. It's quite handy living where you do as you do get a few pick ups in towns not too far from you which is handy. Rgds.
