25 years ago today was the start of half term in my final year of sixth form, and a chance to get some shots on a visit to Bournemouth from Exeter, plenty of loco action and what now seems the bizarre sight of 156s on the Portsmouth-Cardiff route which they operated as an emergency measure for a short period following the withdrawal of the 155s.
