25 191 restoration

The team looking after this loco has a lot of work to make it "ex-works" condition. Good luck to them, wonder how much this will cost.

Is 25 191 a celeb or just a normal "rat"..?

"Some slight corrsion damage"! ( i guess that is what 10+ years stood in the North Yorkshire weather does for you!)

The 25 is the perfect loco for preserved lines in my eyes its steam equivlant would be the ivatt tank or any other relatively large tank engines

I remember that loco in use on the NYMR in the early 90's.

Except that it was left standing in the North Yorkshire weather for a very good reason. It was well and truly clapped out when withdrawn, the final reason being tyres IIRC. Generally knackered and unreliable by then. Its repair would have had to be justified on commercial grounds, and it was simply not economic to undertake it.

I'm pleased to see a group of enthusiasts take it on. An overhaul to undertake for the love of it. Not one a company would be able to justify to the bank manager!

Definatly So! But, at least, as 25191 Is now owned by The South Devon Diesel Traction Group, also owners of the beatiful D7612 - So Id be sure that it'll certainly come out of Buckfastleigh in an equally as beautiful sight and sound!

Bring on 2013/2014!
