What's remarkable also is that in many cases there was a Surbiton stopper (which had to cross to the slow lines) with a non-stop just 2 mins behind. Example 1742 Guildford via Cobham and 1744 Bournemouth behind, or 1736 Farnham with 1738 Alton (Exeter in 1983) behind.All of these are FL through Clapham Junction, except for the Guildford v Cobham services which don’t appear in the WG WTT, they will be in the WH which I don’t have. So these could also be FL, I just don’t know for sure from what I have.
To be fair most of the non-stops to Woking took 26 mins, which later came down to 24, so it looks like they went at below max allowed speed at some point, e.g. to allow the train in front to cross to the slow lines.
