2330 Chester to Hooton

Where does this train hang out overnight? Seems a strange place to outstation a unit?

Seems odd that the last Merseyrail train from Chester to Birkenhead and Liverpool is as early as 2300, even Ellesmere Port (known for its excellent nightlife (not) gets a later train back to Liverpool!

Why doesn’t it run in service to Birkenhead, much better than terminating in the middle of nowhere?
