The end of the world will not come in some Apocalyptic type scenario where mass destruction of the world occurs in a few days. The end of the world is happening now and has been for thousands of years and will continue to happen for years to come until the day comes that it can be declared that the end of the world has occurred.
It will not be as a result of some outrageous myth associated with the Mayan calendar and how wrong they are about it too, or something to do with the centre of the ceasing to spin or anything like that, it is us that will end the world.
Before humans the planet was just that, a planet, animals and the environment then through the process of 7 million years and the first use of stone tools, 'humans' were born, then our planet became a world, we make it a world and seeing as we started it we will end it, the constant destruction of the world since 'civilisation' began 5,500 years ago we have continued to destroy the world and one day we will end it as well.
Not just through pollution and greenhouse gases etc, but through human consumption, the desire for 'want', expansive populations and over crowding as well as slow movement in environmental protection the lack of care that exists in Government and the way in which huge multi-national corporations continue to dictate and exploit markets.
It might not be as spectacular as what you might watch with a box of popcorn but it will occur. And to be honest, there really isn't a great deal you can as an individual can do about it either.
There are 6 billion people on Earth, all playing a small role in destroying our planet and it will take that many people to fix it.
The only other cause may come from a comet, but that day might not occur in our life time, nor in the next several generations ahead, but if its happened before, it may even happen again.
I am not a greenie, nor by far a socialist, or some anti-government 'fanatic', but someone with concern for the future of the world.
