Midland Pullman S&C and Costal tours binned, I received this today for the one in August I was going to do:

It is with regret that we must inform you of the cancellation of the Settle To Carlisle & Coastal Pullman on Tuesday 25 August 2026 . This decision has been made due to the closure of the Cumbrian Coast line as a result of a major structural defect in the Whitehaven tunnel.

Shame as that's another S&C tour I booked on that's been canned, I tried with Pathfinder but they kept getting binned, and now this one. I've not done the S&C on a rail tour yet, looks like the better option maybe is Railway Touring Company's Cumbrian Mountaineering Express

Are they not expecting the tunnel work to be finished by August?

I thought it would be easier to hold off cancelling early or re-route via the WCML as an option the S&C part isn't an issue, not sure if a re-route is that straightforward and how many were more wanting to do the Costal bit, either way the only one remaining is the one that goes via the Tyne & Wear, and the does the S&C both ways (don't think that was in there before unless that's a costal one re-routed not sure)

Yes, I was booked on one in July which has been cancelled as well. Interestingly, they're not doing this with the Saphos tours. I'm booked on a couple of Lakelanders, which do Shap outwards and Cumbrian Coast return. But they have been switched to doing S&C return, rather than being cancelled outright.

Very strange, Pullmans could have been re-routed then seems like they would rather ditch it than work out an alternative

It's just a pain when I planned around it, now cancelled my work holiday I booked an Annex in Bicester but I went for the more expensive flex booking, so no payment until August and free cancellation before that so at least I havent lost money there.

I've gone for York & Scarborough tour as I can drive to Bristol Parkway. Also never been on it before and quite fitting to do it on the 50th anniversary of the HST

Booked with RTC today for The Atlantic Coast Express, 35028 Clan Line on a nice day long round trip between Waterloo and Exeter. £345 for full whack premier dining seemed like a pretty good deal to me.

It's a bit more than usual

I have noticed the RTC have upped their prices as most tours used to be £329 but most are around £335 now

On the srps site the Leven to Llandudno tour on the 22nd of August is up for booking, 40013 Leven to Llandudno via Chester then it works the return back to Chester to be replaced there by 45118, this is so the peak is in the right place for the September tour, so you don't get the 45 for Llandudno, which to me at least was a big part of the reason for contemplating booking,I had already sorted my accomodation in Leven in preparation but the lack of the peak on the branch has put me well off booking myself

Indeed, but their poster did mention they are aiming to restart steam tours in 2027, which is good!
Oh that’s good

The vintage trains Golden Hind is one day now instead of 2, any reason on why this happened?
