Have or has any railstaff managed to secure a "Priv" discount on any of the railtours either by LSL or SRPS ?, we are kinda limited to what we get up here

There are no discounts for railway staff, indeed I'm not aware of any charter operator that gives 'Priv' discount on railtours.

WCRC do on in house tours (e.g. SSE, Jacobite), but because they're registered with ATOC.
I believe it's only them.

Many years ago, the 'Stobart Pullman' offered rail staff a 50% discount on the charter train fare which was an excellent deal. Sadly that operation has long been consigned to history.

Postponed according to Railway Herald due to issues with the Peak

May may suit me though as I couldn’t make the original date

They started in London last month with the Class 87 tour! Given the IC rake is based at Crewe, it's hardly surprising a good number of their tours start in the Midlands or North.

Pathfinder, SRPS, Branch Line, West Coast, and Vintage trains rarely if ever operate from London. In fact the only operator "Regularly" operating from London is UK Railtours

True but a peak to Paignton Vs shredders to Weymouth,isn't a very difficult decision as far as I can see.and the better tour is the cheapest and you don't have the drag factor of the west coast stock lottery

I think I’d personally prefer the Weymouth one out of the two but wouldn’t say no to either.

That's fair enough although are there enough punters for both to run? Each to their own living in south Wales in the 80s 33s were much more common than 45s although they were not exactly unknown especially on the reliefs from York, I dunno but a 45 along the wall is a win for me but I wouldn't knock anyone who did the Dorset option

UK Railtours aren’t an operator, they’re a promoter. WCRC are an operator and they run regularly from London, having a base at Southall, as do LSL for Saphos and Steam Dreams operations.

Did the East Anglian 2 yesterday - ran like clockwork and staff were great.

Literally my only gripe was that coach A turned out to be furthest from the the 40, and at Norwich they turned the whole train so it ran back as it had run down (rather than swap D213 and the 47 on the rear), so given the sound insulation of the MK IIIs we could have been behind anything and we were at the back both ways. Quite a few people complained to the staff and moved to the other end of the train for the return journey.

D213 managed 94 MPH according to the speedometer on my phone somewhere around Stowmarket (I think).

Thought the whole day was great overall and would book again.

The ‘East Anglian’ certainly looked great passing West Hampstead, albeit at more like 9.4mph rather than 94!

It was a great day - did the whole thing from Crewe so I was pretty tired by the time we got back, but well worth it!

Hopefully their team would have taken the comments on board, not least as it seems it could have been sorted.

Odd to be at the back in both directions and I note the thread on this form about whether aircon stock is right for railtours - personally I thought the stock was very comfortable for the length of journey and rode really well....would just liked to heave heard something! Wonder if it would be possible to put a mic between the loco and first coach and stream the sound into the coach so we could hear something - doesn't need to be loud.

Anyway....splitting hairs and would certainly book again with IC - the staff were excellent.
